Jacksonville, FL (May 11, 2020) – Before 1 p.m. this afternoon, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to a serious car crash on a major highway.

The accident, according to police, took place in the northbound lanes of I-295 near the area of Commonwealth Avenue in Jacksonville.

Police did not comment on the exact circumstances of the collision but it is believed that two or more vehicles collided with one another on the highway. The vehicles involved were badly damaged and removed from the roadway by police.

Paramedics were present at the scene of the accident and assisted those with injuries. Their exact conditions are not yet known but it is believed that there were hospitalizations.

No further details have been provided. The investigation continues at this time.
