Callahan, FL – Teen Injured in ATV Accident on Sandy Ford Rd
Callahan, FL (April 4, 2020) – On Thursday afternoon, April 2, a teen was injured in an ATV accident around 4:30 p.m. in Callahan.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision took place when a driver and two passengers, all identified as teens, were on a 2006 Yamaha ATV traveling north on Sandy Ford Road. They were close to the area of Daybreak Drive when the driver started to lose control.
A 15-year-old boy who was a passenger on the ATV then fell off the back, striking his head forcefully on the paved roadway.
Police confirmed that the teen was taken to UF Health Jacksonville with critical injuries. The other teens were identified as a 15-year-old and 17-year-old and they were not injured.
At this time, the investigation into the collision continues.
