St. Augustine, FL – Plane Accident at Northeast Florida Regional Airport
St. Augustine, FL (November 10, 2019) – Two people were injured in a plane accident that took place at the Northeast Florida Regional Airport in St. Augustine around 9:30 a.m. today.
The St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to the scene of the accident where they confirmed that passengers were pulled from the Mooney M20J, a single-engine low wing aircraft.
The pilot of the plane spoke with investigators and told them that he was attempting to land at the airport but experienced a variety of mechanical failures. The pilot and the passenger in the plane were both injured and taken to a nearby hospital. They are expected to recover.
A boat was nearby when the plane went down. The boaters came to the rescue and attempted to rescue the two passengers from the plane
Flights were temporarily stopped for some time. The investigation continues at this time.
