Jacksonville, FL – Bicycle Accident with Injuries on Union St

Jacksonville, FL (December 30, 2019) – Around 8 p.m. last night, December 29, a serious bicycle accident with injuries took place on Union Street in Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Department arrived at the scene of the accident, which took place right before the end of the Jaguars game. Police found that the bicyclist rode into the street headed east on Union Street and had a green light.

One vehicle swerved out of the way but the vehicle behind him was unable to stop in time and struck the bicyclist.

The 41-year-old bicyclist was immediately taken to UF health where he underwent surgery for his injuries.

The driver stayed at the scene of the collision and has been cooperating with the police.

Police closed down the roadway for a short period of time and continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.

Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
