Jacksonville, Fl – Officer Injured In Head-On Collision On I-95
Jacksonville, FL (March 25, 2020) – Around 10:30 p.m. last night, March 24, an officer was injured in a head-on collision that took place on I-95 in Jacksonville.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the accident took place when officers were pursuing a reckless driver on the highway around the area of Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway.
The driver who they were chasing drove his SUV in the oncoming lanes. An officer was attempting to close down the interstate in the area when the driver struck his cruiser head-on.
The officer and the driver of the SUV were hospitalized. The officer received severe injuries but, at this time, he is expected to recover.
Charges are expected against the driver of the SUV. Police believe that drugs and alcohol played a role in the accident.
No further details have been provided but the investigation is ongoing.
