Alachua, FL – Fatal Pedestrian Accident on I-75 Leads to Arrest
Alachua, FL (February 23, 2020) – Around 5 p.m. on February 22, a fatal pedestrian accident took place on I-75 that led to the arrest of one person.
The crash took place when a 44-year-old man was driving a Ford F-350 truck south on the highway in Alachua. His girlfriend, identified as a 48-year-old woman, was hanging onto the passenger door and being dragged by the vehicle.
The woman eventually lost her grip while he dragged her along, which is when she was run over by the right rear tire of his truck. She was immediately taken to a local hospital but was pronounced deceased while there.
Around 2 a.m. this morning, police were able to locate the suspect and he was arrested for leaving the scene of a crime and various other charges.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues its investigation of the accident.
