Alachua, FL – Hit-and-Run Crash with Injuries on I-75
Alachua, FL (July 21, 2020) – Around 4:30 p.m. this afternoon, a hit-and-run crash with injuries occurred on a major Alachua highway.
Police confirmed that the accident took place in the northbound lanes of I-75 when at least two vehicles forcefully collided on the highway for reasons that are not yet known. According to authorities, one of the vehicles immediately fled the scene of the accident.
The vehicle that remained at the scene of the collision was extensively damaged. Police have not verified if they caught the driver responsible for the accident.
Injuries were reported in one or more victims who stayed at the scene of the accident. The extent of their injuries is not yet known but it is believed that one or more victims were transported to the hospital.
Police were able to quickly reopen the roadway following the collision.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing.
