Jacksonville, FL – Fatal Motorcycle Accident on I-295
Jacksonville, FL (November 21, 2019) – Last evening, police responded to the scene of a fatal motorcycle accident on I-295 in Jacksonville that took the life of a passenger.
Police did not comment on the exact circumstances of the accident but said that the accident happened in the northbound lanes of the highway near the area of 103rd Street.
The Florida Highway Patrol identified the woman who lost her life as 46-year-old Karen Moody, who was a passenger on the back of a motorcycle.
The motorcycle she was a passenger on didn’t slow down for traffic even when the vehicles in front of them started to slow down. This caused the motorcycle to strike the back of the car, causing the driver and passenger to be thrown from the bike.
Police claim that a vehicle struck Moody, which instantly killed her. The operator of the motorcycle she was riding with was identified as a 52-year-old man who had minor injuries and was hospitalized.
The driver of the vehicle that struck them was identified as a 41-year-old woman who was not injured in the accident.
The accident backed up traffic for over three hours. Police continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the collision.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
