Jacksonville, FL – Officer Injured in Car Accident on University Blvd

Jacksonville, FL (July 12, 2020) – Last evening around 6 p.m., a car accident took place in Jacksonville that led to injuries in an officer.

An officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and a Chevrolet pickup truck driver were involved in the accident. The officer was headed east on University Boulevard and started to make a left turn while the Chevy driver was headed west. The vehicles forcefully collided with one another.

Both of the vehicles struck each other so forcefully that they ended up in a hotel parking lot that was nearby.

The officer and the other driver were both taken to the hospital with injuries but are expected to recover.

Eastbound lanes of traffic on University Boulevard were closed until 8 p.m. while police cleared the scene.

At this time, police continue their investigation.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
