St. Augustine, FL (June 8, 2020) – Yesterday, June 7, a child was killed in a fatal car accident on US-1 in St. Augustine.

The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the 11-year-old girl was a passenger in an SUV that was headed north on the highway. The driver lost control when they were allegedly trying to avoid a puddle of water.

The SUV drove across the center median and immediately overturned. The child was then ejected from the vehicle.

The child was allegedly pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The 32-year-old female driver had minor injuries but is expected to recover.

Police continue their investigation into the collision.
