Starke, FL – One Killed in Head-on Collision on FL-16
Starke, FL (November 1, 2019) – One person died on Sunday night and several others were injured in a head-on collision that took place on FL-16 near Kingsley Lake.
Troopers were dispatched to the scene around 9:50 p.m. that night in the area of Mary Dot Lane. They found that 51-year-old Shawn Eric Mcleod’s SUV drove into on-coming traffic on the roadway. That is when his SUV collided head-on with a van carrying several Navy Reserve personnel.
There were seven men in the van who were injured in the accident. Their ages range anywhere from 21 years of age to 45 years of age and all of them are out-of-state residents.
Mcleod was tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The Florida Highway Patrol continues its investigation of the accident.
